What is your approach to photography?
The goal of my artwork is to capture the true personality and spirit of my subjects. Whether the mood is happy, sad, silly or pensive, I aim to capture that moment.
I believe a pout or a smile can equally show the personality of the person in front of my lens. Capturing the beauty and individuality of my subjects is what inspires me and makes your session unique and personal. I therefore do very minimal posing and encourage my subjects to be themselves, capturing them as they truly are.
What are your sessions like?
My sessions are very informal, fun and relaxing.
I work on location so I either come to your home or you can chose another favourite place within the Montreal area.
I generally try to photograph using natural light and without a backdrop. Being free to move around contributes to photos that are unique and less "posed" looking. However, if a more formal and traditional pictures are desired or if the weather does not permit going outside I will bring lights to your session.
How long does a session last?
Sessions tend to last from 1-2 hours. I place no time limit. If I'm photographing children the session may take longer. If my subjects consist of adults then things will go much quicker. It all depends on the needs and pace of those I'm photographing.
What should everyone wear?
Photos should be about the person and not the clothes so it's best to keep it simple. Solid colours or light patterns are great. It's not necessary that everyone should wear clothes that match but it's good to keep in mind not clashing.
Keep logos to a minimum. The best bet is to wear clothes that will not make your photos look dated when you look at them 20 years from now.
For small children at least a couple of outfits is recommended for variety as well as for potential messes that might occur.
What are some other things to keep in mind?
The sessions that go the smoothest are the ones where everyone is relaxed and enjoying themselves. It's normal for kids to take some time to get comfortable and warm up to being photographed. The most important thing is for everyone to be calm and have fun.
How long will it take to see my pictures ?
You should generally expect to see your pictures within 1-2 weeks of your session. An online slideshow will be available for you and your family and friends to see. You will have about 2 weeks to make your selections.
Your prints will be ready and delivered within 2 weeks of ordering.
